Radio Rehoboth
The Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild, in partnership with Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books, will host four authors for a happy hour discussion, Getting Your Book Out Into the World, at 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.
While five publishers still dominate the industry in terms of sales, they are responsible for fewer than 20% of the new titles being released each year. Options for writers seeking to take a non-traditional approach to publishing are greater than ever. Authors Danielle Ariano, Anne Crown, Paul Dyer, and Margaret Kirby will discuss their different paths toward publication and their decisions on how to publish their work. They will share the process of writing, revising and editing their books, and offer insights and lessons learned.
“Writing and publishing a book is such a huge accomplishment, and we want to both celebrate the writers on our panel while also educating and inspiring those writers in the audience who are hoping to see their own books out in the world,” said Maribeth Fischer, event moderator and executive director of the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild.
Registration is required. To sign up, go to lewes.lib.de.us or call 302-645-2733. Light refreshments will be served.
Ariano’s books include a memoir, “Getting Over the Rainbow,” and 2024’s “The Requirement of Grief.”
Crown is an award-winning artist and writer whose book “Evergreen” won first place in the novel category in the Delaware Press Association Professional Communications Contest in 2023.
Dyer, a Rehoboth Beach-Dewey resident for 30 years, recently published “Flight From B-Dock,” the third book in a series of action-adventure novels.
Kirby’s novel, “Becoming Nora,” was a distinguished favorite in the category of literary fiction for the Independent Press Awards in 2022. She is currently working on her second book.
Participants are encouraged to support the authors by purchasing copies of their books from local independent bookstore Browseabout Books. Books will also be available for purchase and signing at the event.
