Woman identified in Milton homicide investigation

Delaware State Police are investigating the death of a 57-year-old woman who was found inside her home on West Springside Drive in Cool Spring near Milton.

Police say on the night of Nov. 20, troopers responded to a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, police say they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body. Sonya Sheppard was pronounced dead at the scene. Delaware State Police’s homicide unit is investigating the case. Police say preliminary investigation has found that the woman’s home was struck by multiple rounds fired by an unknown assailant.
