Sussex Strong, the Sussex County Association of Realtors Community Service Foundation, is seeking volunteers to help wrap gifts for families in need starting at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach.
Having raised $81,000 at their annual Sussex Strong Gala with the primary goal of helping kids in Sussex County, Sussex Strong members and community volunteers hit the stores to shop for all their needs. This year, the group is helping 148 families with a total of 370 children.
Now that all the coats, clothing and a toy have been chosen for each needy child, they are asking for help wrapping all of these gifts. Wrapping paper will be supplied, so volunteers can just bring their own scissors and tape. Go to sussexstrong.org for more information.
To date, Sussex Strong has raised more than $1,537,380 and helped over 9,712 children in Sussex County.
Big thanks go to Matt Hesseltine of Black Tie Moving company for getting hundreds of bags of gifts to the wrapping location, spending hours to load and deliver everything.
Everyone is welcome to volunteer to help with the gift-wrapping. No registration is needed. “We start at 9 a.m., but could easily be done by noon so come early. We appreciate all help as we wrap all the gifts and send them off with love,” said Jenn Barrows, Sussex Strong president.
Thanks go to sponsors of the Nov. 2 gala fundraiser: Sussex County Association of Realtors and Jack Lingo, Monument Sotheby’s International Realty Coastal Division, The Starboard, Betty Mann-Beebe of Mann & Sons, and Scott & Shuman.
