Nashville singer-songwriter Shawn Lacy has penned a new tune inspired by the recent times he’s been in the Lewes and Rehoboth Beach areas.
After spending the July 4 weekend in Lewes, Lacy found himself back in the Cape Region a month later performing at musician Paul Cullen’s The Room at Cedar Grove.
Lacy later returned for a little writer retreat, where the fridge contained some Dogfish Head Pennsylvania Tuxedo IPA, designed to pay homage to flannel-suited hunters and gatherers who dwell deep in the state’s backcountry. Lacy grew up in Lock Haven, Pa., where the Woolrich store was known for its legendary red-and-black buffalo plaid clothing. The IPA hit him with a lot of nostalgia and a newfound love for coastal Delaware, and Lacy began penning his new tune, “Ride or Die.” After recording it, he hit up Nashville music video director Steve Jawn, who also has a home in Lewes.
Together they ventured out to the beaches of Lewes on an ice-cold day and filmed the new music video, which is now available on all social media platforms @shawnlacymusic, @the1010creative and @directorsteve.
