Claire Snyder-Hall announced her candidacy for the 14th Representative District Jan. 31, the same day she announced her resignation as executive director of Common Cause Delaware.

A Senate candidate against former Sen. Ernie Lopez in 2014, Snyder-Hall said many of her supporters from then encouraged her to run for the seat that will be vacated this year by retiring Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach.

“I didn’t plan on running, but decided it was a good time to do so,” she said.

The Rehoboth Beach Democrat said she will focus on issues that include healthcare, education, environment and housing.

Snyder-Hall had worked as executive director of Common Cause Delaware since 2021, and officials thanked her for her years of service in a separate press release.

Before moving to Rehoboth Beach full time in 2011, Snyder-Hall was a tenured faculty member at George Mason University, where she taught political science and administered several academic graduate programs.
