Bodhi Kitchen, a modern Asian restaurant located in downtown Rehoboth Beach and part of the Second Block Hospitality Restaurant Group, recently announced the appointment of Beau Fazio as its new executive chef. With a deep passion for culinary arts and strong local roots, Fazio is set to elevate the dining experience at Bodhi Kitchen.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Delaware, Fazio began his culinary journey at just 14 years old. His rapid rise through the culinary ranks is a testament to his dedication and love for food. His drive quickly led him to roles as a food runner at Arena’s and cook at Zogg’s, Dave & Skippy’s, Salt Air and Rehoboth Ale House. His formative years included a notable stint at Abbott’s with Chef Ryan Cunningham, which further fueled his culinary aspirations.
At 19, Fazio joined Heirloom, where he worked under Chef Matt Kern, a James Beard Awards finalist, solidifying his commitment to the craft. Fazio became known for his resilience and adaptability, particularly while facing the COVID pandemic challenges. During this period, he supported Kern’s farming efforts and helped organize to-go pop-ups, showcasing their shared commitment to the farm-to-table philosophy.
At Bodhi Kitchen, Fazio aims to foster a collaborative and creative kitchen environment, encouraging staff contributions to the menu and promoting a positive atmosphere. His culinary philosophy centers on simplicity and joy, reflecting his belief that exceptional food doesn’t need to be complex. Notably, his favorite dish is a cheeseburger, a symbol of his down-to-earth approach to cooking.
Bodhi Kitchen has recently received numerous accolades, and the owners of Second Block Hospitality were honored as 2024 Restaurateurs of the Year by the Delaware Restaurant Association, exemplifying their commitment to excellence in the culinary landscape.
With Fazio at the helm, Bodhi Kitchen is poised for a new chapter of creativity and culinary excellence. Guests can look forward to a menu that honors tradition while embracing innovation, all rooted in the local community.
