During its annual awards banquet March 22, the Rehoboth Beach Police Department honored officers and emergency dispatchers who reached career milestones and provided outstanding service in 2023.
Sr. Cpl. Josh Kosiorowski was named the department’s 2023 Police Officer of the Year. Recognized for his strong work ethic and mentorship of new officers, Kosiorowski supervises the department’s bicycle patrol unit and serves as a combat instructor, seasonal police academy instructor, and field training officer.
Administrative Assistant to the Chief Marion Jones, who has worked for the police department for 30 years, was recognized as the 2023 Civilian of the Year for her
thorough administrative support, willingness to take on and learn new tasks and systems, and because she has become “ingrained in the history and culture” of the Rehoboth Beach Police Department.
Sr. Cpl. Jeffrey Bixler received a Chief’s Citation, which recognizes significant contributions to the department and performance substantially above expectations on a specific assignment. Bixler was recognized for his efforts to provide Narcan administration training for local restaurant employees. Communications Specialist Steve Watson received a Commendation of Merit for taking the initiative to revise the department’s communications specialist training program. A Commendation of Merit is presented for an outstanding act of police work or an act that displays superior intelligence and effort.
