The Rehoboth Art League is sponsoring a bus trip Tuesday, March 11, to explore the collection, exhibitions and sculpture garden at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
Participants must purchase tickets in advance, and space is limited. Coach bus check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Fresh Market parking lot on Coastal Highway, Rehoboth. Departure will be at 8 a.m. sharp. The bus will begin its return trip from Washington at 2:30 p.m., with arrival in Rehoboth expected by 5:30 p.m.
RAL’s trip coincides with the opening of the special exhibition, Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist, organized by the Brooklyn Museum and the National Gallery of Art in collaboration with the Art Institute of Chicago. On view in the galleries are more than 3,000 works from the NGA Collection and its exhibit American Places: Featuring Selections from the Corcoran Collection. The West Building of the gallery houses works from the 1300s through the 1900s, and the East Building features modern and contemporary works. If enough people are interested, a guided group tour of the exhibits can be scheduled.
Attendees will have about 3 ½ hours to explore the museum and get lunch on their own. There are several food options inside the museum and on its grounds, as well as within walking distance.
Learn more at rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408, Ext. 206. Cancellations after Tuesday, Feb. 11, cannot be refunded.
