A Greenwood man wanted after he allegedly fired a gun at police Nov. 28 in the parking lot of a Greenwood store killed himself Nov. 30 after police say they found him hiding in a camper.
Delaware State Police, and Maryland State Police in collaboration with the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, located Brian Holben, 27, in a camper, described only by police as in Maryland. Holben had been sought after police tried to arrest him, but he tried to push two police vehicles out of the way with his Jeep before firing a handgun at them and fleeing into a wooded area.
While executing a warrant Nov. 30, police said they found Holben in the camper and tried to get him to surrender. Those, however, were unsuccessful and police said they found Holben inside the camper with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Per Delaware State Police standard operating procedures, the troopers who fired their weapons Nov. 28 have been placed on administrative leave. An investigation will be conducted regarding the use of force.
