The Milford Museum will continue its American History Series at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Milford Public Library, 11 S.E. Front St., Milford.
The guest speaker will be Tommye Staley, a retired teacher from Milford High School. A longtime member of Delaware Teachers of Science, Staley taught science at Milford for 24 years. She also taught at Wesley College for 16 years and at Delaware Technical Community College in Dover.
Staley is coming to Delaware to promote her debut book, “Washing Worms: Memories of a Southern Girl.” The story centers on a little girl growing up on an isolated island farm in central Arkansas in the 1940s, a time when no one locked their doors and people left the keys in their unattended vehicles. It was a time without fear. It tells of her relationships with the folks who worked on the farm and how they influenced her until a major change occurred in her young, innocent life.
Sponsored by the Milford Museum, these monthly programs focus on a variety of topics concerning local, state and national history.
