A Millsboro man faces drug and driving under the influence charges following a Long Neck crash Sept. 27 that injured three children.

The crash happened at 7:25 p.m. on Indian Mission Road when a Mercedes GLE driven by Judson Wall, 27, was heading southbound approaching the intersection with Route 24. Ahead of him was a Chevrolet Silverado with a Kia K5, a Ford-150 and a BMW X7 all stopped for a red light, police said. Wall was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to stay in the proper lane of travel, police said, as he approached the stopped cars, and as a result, the Mercedes sideswiped the X7 and the F-150. The front of the Mercedes then struck the rear of the Kia, causing it to hit the Silverado, police said.

The driver of the Kia, a 39-year-old man from Lewes, was not injured. A passenger, a 6-year-old child, was taken to an area hospital with serious, nonlife-threatening injuries. Two other children, ages 9 and 12, were taken to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said. The occupants of the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, BMW X7 and Wall were not injured in the crash.

During contact with Wall, police said, troopers observed multiple signs of impairment, administered standardized field sobriety tests, and took Wall into custody without incident. Police said they found about 50 grams of marijuana while searching Wall and his vehicle.

Wall was taken to Troop 7 where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, first-degree vehicular assault, two counts second-degree vehicular assault, driving under the influence, and other traffic violations. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $7,004 secured bond.
