A Bridgeville man faces charges after police say he falsely reported a gun was stolen from his home.
Police said Andrew May, 47, of Bridgeville, told police on April 17 that someone had stolen the gun, but detectives later learned that no one entered May’s house, and that he gave the gun to one teenager and the ammunition and magazines to another. Police said one of the teens sold the gun, and it has not been recovered.
May was charged April 19 with giving a firearm to a person prohibited and falsely reporting an incident. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.
The same day, a 15-year-old boy turned himself in to Troop 4; he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person under 18 and possession of ammunition by a person under 18. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
A second boy, also 15, turned himself in to Troop 5 on April 25, where he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person under 18 and giving a firearm to a person prohibited. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released to the custody of a parent.
