A Lewes man faces felony drug charges after police found him slumped over in his car Oct. 17, in a Wawa parking lot with a collection of drugs.
Police responded to a report at 7:21 a.m. of an unconscious man at the Wawa on Dartmouth Drive near Lewes. They found Byard Widdoes, 39, slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle, police said.
He woke up, police said, but appeared confused. He kept putting his hands in his pockets despite police telling him not to, police said, and when they searched him, they found drugs and paraphernalia. A computer inquiry revealed that Widdoes also had capias warrants for his arrest. During a search of Widdoes and the vehicle, police said, they found about 9.52 grams of powder cocaine; about 1.31 grams of crystal methamphetamine; about 124.08 ml of liquid methamphetamine; about 32.20 ml of liquid testosterone; about 1.89 grams of heroin; one Viagra pill; two oxycontin pills; two amphetamine pills; four acetaminophen/oxycodone pills; and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia.
Widdoes was arrested and taken to Troop 7 where he was charged with two counts possession of a controlled substance tier 1; two counts possession of a controlled substance, tier 3; seven counts possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance; and other drug and paraphernalia charges. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of an $83,500 cash bond.
