A Laurel man faces burglary and theft charges after police say he stole items from a home near Harbeson.
Delaware State Police responded April 13 to a home in the 24000 block of Route 9 near Harbeson for a report of a burglary, police said, and a neighbor said an unknown male had been on the property. The man stole items from inside the house and fled in a white Ford pickup truck with decals and the words “Truck Company” on the front passenger-side door. Police obtained a warrant for the arrest of David Arvey Sr., 64, in connection with the burglary.
On April 26 at about 3:50 p.m., Arvey was apprehended by Millsboro Police after a brief foot chase. He was taken to Millsboro Police Department, where he was charged with third-degree burglary and theft under $1,500 of a victim 65 or older. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond, but later was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $1,000 secured bond for two outstanding capiases issued by Sussex County Superior Court.
