Tryouts for Rehoboth Beach Patrol lifeguards will be held in three locations over the next several weeks. Tryouts are required for new applicants and include swimming, running, pushups, and sit-ups.
Tryouts will be held on the following Saturdays:
Applicants must be at least 16 years old by Memorial Day weekend and certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. Applicants also must complete the online employment application.
Starting pay for ocean rescue personnel is $17.50/hour with an incentive bonus of up to $1,000.
Maddie Tonn, last year’s Rehoboth Beach Lifeguard of the Year, says of her experience with the beach patrol: “It’s like a family. I can’t put into words how much this job has impacted me…. Honestly, I don’t know if I will ever have a job with coworkers who are so close and so compassionate again. I will be lucky to have such an amazing family of coworkers again.”
The City of Rehoboth Beach is hiring additional seasonal personnel including in its police, parking, and streets maintenance departments.
