Inland Bays Garden Center workshops start Oct. 4

The Inland Bays Garden Center announced upcoming workshops taking place at 38320 Muddy Neck Road, Frankford.

Bonsai Club will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4. Bonsai (tray planting) is the Japanese and East Asian art of growing and training miniature trees in containers. All are welcome whether they are beginners or longtime Bonsai enthusiasts.

Planting keystone plants will be the topic from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15. Beth Sheppard, Lower Shore Land Trust agricultural outreach specialist will discuss the two types of keystone plants for  the local region. Understanding the value of both the host plants and the pollen plants that fuel native insects and pollinators is critical in every garden.

A make-your-own beach-theme resin pour class is set for 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21. Cost is $65. Artist George Todd will teach the process of creating a resin wave, with several designs to choose from.

A Halloween floral arrangement session is set for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27. Cost is $60. Using a locally grown pumpkin as a vessel, Alison Webb will show how to arrange flowers, twigs and branches as participants create their own Halloween centerpieces. Pumpkins and all plant materials are included. Attendees should bring plastic or garden gloves, a small knife to cut the top, and garden snips or scissors.
