Holiday shoppers have two opportunities to catch works from local artist Susan Macintire this season. A painter and pastelist residing in Rehoboth Beach, Macintire has a bold style and uses an adventurous color palette to give her work its exciting intrigue.
A meet and greet with Macintire will be held at Creative Impressions Art Gallery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 18675 Coastal Highway, No. 9, Rehoboth Beach. The gallery is the artist’s newest venue and offers her art prints, limited-edition giclées and serigraphs as well as original oils. Patrons can shop from a selection of Macintire’s high-quality reproduction prints. For more information, call 302-227-7171.
Macintire will also be showing her original paintings and prints at the Children’s Beach House Winter Wonder benefit. To purchase tickets for the holiday masquerade gala Friday, Dec. 1, go to cbhinc.org. The art show will be available and open to everyone Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2 and 3, at Children’s Beach House, 1800 Bay Ave., Lewes.
The former nurse began her artistic career painting wildlife and has expanded her subjects to flora, still lifes, landscapes and seascapes. Being a native of the Delaware beaches, the artist has been hugely influenced by the coastal Delaware lifestyle and how the region has evolved over the years. To Macintire, each subject has its own personality that she brings to life. Macintire said, ”I try to bring movement into each painting. When I see it move, come to life, I know I’m on the right track.”
