Georgia and Notre Dame are set to meet for just the fourth time ever

No. 6 seed Penn State kicked off the quarterfinals with a decisive 31-14 win over No. 3 seed Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. With the win, Penn State advanced to its first College Football Playoff semifinal. It’ll play in the Orange Bowl on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Action continues with a triple-header on New Year’s Day, starting with No. 5 seed Texas taking on No. 4 seed Arizona State in the Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Then, No. 8 seed Ohio State battles top-seeded Oregon in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, followed by No. 7 seed Notre Dame vs. No. 2 seed Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. The winner of the Notre Dame-Georgia game will face Penn State in the Orange Bowl.
