A 71-year-old bicyclist was injured Oct. 3 in a crash south of the Indian River Inlet bridge.
The Hockessin man was riding southbound in the shoulder of southbound Route 1, south of Beach Cove Square, at 10:47 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he turned left across the right lane and into the left lane, said Sgt. India Sturgis of the Delaware State Police.
At the same time, she said, a Lexus driven by a 62-year-old Ocean View man was traveling in the left lane. The front of the bicycle struck the right front of the Lexus and the bicyclist was ejected. He was flown to an area hospital where he was admitted with injuries, Sturgis said.
The roadway was closed for more than two hours.
