NEWARK — Artesian Resources Corp., one of the few public companies in Delaware, quietly changed leadership to the fifth generation of the Taylor family earlier this year.

Nicholle Taylor, the former president of Artesian, has been appointed as the company’s chief executive officer and president as of February. She had served as interim president and CEO as of January this year.

She succeeded her aunt, Dian Taylor, who had served as Artesian Resources leader since 1992. Dian Taylor took paid leave for eight weeks before she retired, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

“Dian has served as Artesian’s CEO for 35 years, and she was instrumental in growing the company into what it is today,” Artesian Executive Vice President Joe DiNuzio told the Delaware Business Times. “When she first started, the company only served customers in northern Delaware and now the company serves customers across the Delmarva region. We have expanded into wastewater services in Sussex County as well as service line protectors.”

“The company is not the same one when she started, and all for the better,” he added.

Other SEC filings show that Taylor and Artesian have entered into a retirement agreement that became effective on March 24 and was dated for Feb 22. Her retirement does not impact on her position on the board of directors where she has been a member of the finance committee of the board since 2009.

Nicholle Taylor was not immediately available for comment.

Artesian Resources is one of 11 public companies in Delaware and is known for being a primary water supplier for the state.

Artesian supplies 8.7 billion gallons of water per year through 1,442 miles of water main to over a third of Delawareans. It has been steadily growing its service network to include southern Delaware in recent years.

In 2024, Artesian reported a net income of $20.4 million, or a 22% increase compared to the previous year. Revenues totaled $108 million for the year – and water sales increased revenue by $8 million, according to the company’s annual report.

Nicholle Taylor, 57, has been a member of the company since 1991 and on its board since 2007. She then became vice president of the company five years later and then promoted to president in 2021. Other notable positions she held were chief operating officer of Artesian Water between 2004 and 2012.

The board of directors will determine the amount of additional compensation, if any, for Nicholle Taylor at a later date, according to SEC filings. No such filing has been made as of press time.
