Radio Rehoboth
The art of silk painting is an exciting medium of expression. Silk is a lustrous, supple fabric that reacts beautifully to brilliant dyes and paints. The purity and intensity of color that emerges during the painting process is truly amazing.
During the Rehoboth Art League’s Introduction to Painting Silk Scarves class from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21 and 22, participants can learn the relaxing art of painting on silk using vibrant Dyna-flow colors. On the first day, local artist Joan Applebaum will start students off with simple designs on a 22-inch-square silk scarf. The class will learn techniques using water-based resist and learn to create seamless blending of color. A few special effects such as tie-dye and sprinkling with salt for amazing textures will be covered as well. On the second day, students will learn to set the color, remove the resist, and complete another small project. The cost of the two-day class is $95, and there is a $20 supply fee to be paid to the instructor the first day of class.
To register for the class, go to rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408, Ext. 112.
All workshops are held at the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres.
