A man, 36, is in critical condition after he was struck Sept. 30 in a Dewey Beach crosswalk.
The crash happened at 10:19 a.m. when the man was walking across Route 1 westbound in the crosswalk near Rodney Avenue, said police. At the same time, police said, a 2018 Honda driven by a man, 38, was going northbound in the left lane of Route 1 and failed to stop in the clearly marked crosswalk, striking the 36-year-old pedestrian.
The 36-year-old was taken to Beebe Healthcare with life-threatening injuries and later airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition, police said. At this time no names of the persons involved will be released, police said, citing an open and active investigation.
Due to the serious nature of the collision, the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is assisting the Dewey Beach Police with this investigation.
