VMI Keydets @ ETSU Buccaneers
Current Records: VMI 6-7, ETSU 7-6
VMI is preparing for their first Southern matchup of the season on Wednesday. They and the ETSU Buccaneers will face off at 12:00 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall. The Keydets are no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Saturday, VMI came up short against Richmond and fell 78-71.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rickey Bradley Jr., who went 10 for 16 en route to 26 points plus five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tan Yildizoglu, who had 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, the point spread may have favored ETSU last Saturday, but the final result did not. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kansas City.
VMI now has a losing record at 6-7. As for ETSU, they have been struggling recently as they’ve lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday’s match: VMI has made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 10.3 threes per game. However, it’s not like ETSU struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 8.8. Given these competing strengths, it’ll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
VMI was dealt a punishing 98-66 defeat at the hands of ETSU in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can VMI avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.
