The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission has recommended approval of a conditional use filed by Mason Hayes for five townhome units at 20455 Lincoln St., just outside Rehoboth Beach city limits near the water tower.
Sussex County Council will have the final vote at a future meeting.
Making the motion for the project during the Nov. 13 meeting, Commissioner Gregory Scott Collins said the townhomes are consistent with other housing development in the area near Route 1.
Multifamily housing is also a suggested use in the county’s coastal growth area.
Collins said state transportation officials have determined the use will have minimal impact on traffic. A 10-foot buffer must be in place along the eastern and southern property lines of the half-acre property.
Deliveries and construction can take place 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, with Saturday seasonal hours of 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. running from Sept. 15 to May 15.
