Glow everywhere you go! Celebrity facialist Shani Darden is known for keeping Hollywood stars like Jessica Alba, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chrissy Teigen, Kelly Rowland, Shay Mitchell, Emmy Rossum and more look flawless, and now she’s telling ET how you can do the same wherever you are — or are going.
With the holidays and travel season approaching, Darden spilled her tips for maintaining luminous skin pre, mid, and post flight.
Before hopping on a plane, the Shani Darden Skincare founder recommends following a regimen filled with high-quality products that suit your specific skincare needs.
“Start with the Cleansing Serum, which is a gentle cleanser with hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin, oat bran to re-balance moisture levels, and olive extract to soothe irritation or inflammation. Next, use iS Clinical’s Pro-Heal Serum to protect the skin and offset the effects of oxidative stress,” she says.
“For extra hydration, use the Moisture Boost Plumping Serum and Intensive Eye Renewal Cream. Finish with Supergoop’s Play Everyday SPF, which is one of my favorite sunscreens. It’s hydrating but doesn’t cause congestion and has an SPF 50,” Darden adds.
When you’re up in the air, the skincare guru suggests incorporating a few essentials as you sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight.
“I always travel with my Facial Sculpting Wand and use it when I’m on board. It really helps to counteract puffiness from flying and will keep your face sculpted. I usually wear eye masks as well to keep my under eyes hydrated. Once I remove the eye masks, I put on my eye cream and love to use it with the wand to help the product penetrate deeper,” she shares.
Next, it’s time to reapply your sunscreen.
“When you’re traveling by plane, the UV rays are that much more intense, so keeping yourself protected is essential. … UV rays can penetrate the clouds, windows, and so on, so even if you’re inside all day, wearing sunscreen is essential to keep your skin healthy,” Darden notes.
Once you reach your destination, the esthetician suggests resetting your complexion with the Triple Acid Signature Peel.
“It’s the perfect chemical exfoliant to achieve a studio-level glow at home and something I always rely on to keep my skin glowing and my pores clear. Follow it with the Moisture Boost Plumping Skin, which leaves skin supple and bouncy while nourishing it with snow mushroom and glycerin.”
And even if you’ve landed in a cold climate, keeping SPF on hand is necessary.
“Everyone is always trying to reverse the signs of aging, however, you can prevent brown spots, discoloration, fine lines, and wrinkles by protecting your skin from sun exposure, which involves wearing sunscreen regardless of the weather,” Darden explains.
Finally, don’t let your jet lag hit you before completing your nighttime routine.
“Cleanse again and add the Retinol Reform, which is the go-to serum I recommend to all of my clients to keep their skin glowing in between facials. … Follow it with a hydrating serum and eye cream again. Then apply the Hydration Peptide Cream to deliver deep hydration and support your skin barrier,” she spills.
To amplify your skincare goals throughout your trip, the Déesse Pro LED Light Mask is key.
“It’s a quick 10-minute treatment with clinically-proven wavelengths of red, blue, and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular response to clear mild to moderate acne, target pigmentation, and visibly diminish fine lines and wrinkles. … It yields amazing results when used consistently,” Darden reveals.
