Six years after opening on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach, One Day At A Time Gifts has moved to the Five Pointe Plaza outside Lewes.
Amylynn Karnbach, who co-owns the store with her husband Larry, celebrated the first day of a soft opening at her new location Aug. 26. The business was holding its own in Rehoboth, but the lease expired, and renewing it wasn’t an option, said Karnbach.
One Day At A Time specializes in hard-to-find items for the local LGBTQ+ and recovery communities. The store continues to offer a large collection of recovery coins that mark substance-free milestones from any number of addictions, including alcohol, nicotine, drugs and others. There are shelves full of 12-step recovery books, pamphlets on local meeting schedules and how to find help, and other self-help literature. The shop also has a wide variety of fun items, local jewelry and artwork.
Karnbach said the new space is about one-third larger than her previous space, which allows her to bring in more merchandise. Before, it was being stored at home, she said, crediting Larry with getting the space ready.
While Karnbach continues to unpack and finalize the layout, the store will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily. However, she said, once that process is done, the hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The store will be closed on Wednesdays.
