A Milford man is sought in connection with the early morning shooting June 28 at Big Chill Surf Cantina on Route 1 near Rehoboth Beach.
Delaware State Police responded at 12:51 a.m. for a shooting report and learned a 27-year-old man was at a nearby hospital after suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said a group of people were fighting in the parking lot of the restaurant when a man pulled out a handgun from a bag and fired one shot at the victim. Following the shooting, police said, everyone who was fighting fled. The victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle, where he was treated and released.
Police said they are now searching for 28-year-old Jonathan Blackwell of Milford. Detectives obtained a warrant for Blackwell’s arrest for several felony offenses; attempts to locate Blackwell remain ongoing.
The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives ask anyone who has information regarding Blackwell’s whereabouts to contact Detective J. Hill at 302-752-3792 or call 9-1-1.
