Cape Region residents and visitors can get creative by learning to make their own silver jewelry at Heidi Lowe Gallery. A selection of classes offers options that are are great to do individually or with family and friends. Everyone will leave class with a finished, handmade piece of jewelry.
“The classes are designed for fun and success, and are perfect for beginners,” said gallery owner Heidi Lowe.
One-session classes center on different silver jewelry projects and meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays. Students will learn various metalworking techniques to make a wearable piece of personalized silver jewelry from start to finish. Beginners are welcome, and materials are included in the class price of $175.
Dates and projects are: June 5, Rings of Intention; June 12, Intention Necklace with a Stone; June 19, Stacker Rings; and June 26, Layered Nature Pendant.
The Statement Ring option is a four-session class that encourages creativity and individuality in design. Students will learn the basics of metalsmithing, design and more to create their own hollow silver statement ring with a set stone. Skills such as filing, sanding, soldering and polishing will be covered, as well as forming, roller printing and stone setting. Classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Thursdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27, and the cost is $400, including materials.
