Acres hires consultant to help with CDP

During a March 8 meeting, Henlopen Acres commissioners voted to hire Wallace Montgomery to assist the planning commission in developing an update to the state-mandated comprehensive development plan. The initial amount approved was $5,500, which is subject to review at subsequent meetings, said Mayor Joni Reich. The goal is to prepare a draft by year end that can be submitted to the state planning office for Preliminary Land Use Service review, she said. 

Rehoboth decreases time for appeals

During a meeting March 15, Rehoboth Beach commissioners approved a resolution that reduced the time frame for appealing parking citations from 30 days to seven days. City staff recommended the change, saying the move helps reduce the administrative burden associated with parking citation appeals and also brings Rehoboth’s practices in line with other municipalities.

Rehoboth updates employee code

During a meeting March 15, Rehoboth Beach commissioners approved an ordinance updating the city employee personnel code. Primarily, the ordinance updates code related to marijuana use, but it also updates the definition of sick leave to include an employee’s spouse or child; says bereavement leave may be taken for the death of a sister-in-law or brother-in-law; and clarifies that the retirement bonus offered to employees is a one-time bonus.

Lewes council sets public hearing April 1

Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m., Monday, April 1, at the Rollins Center.

The panel will take comments on proposed ordinances to increase freeboard requirements and to reduce maximum lot coverage by 5%.
