Originality, imagination and teamwork are the essential elements of the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre camps.
Registration is now open for RSCT camps that offer children ages 8-14 a wide variety of hands-on artistic activities. With four weeks of film camp and two weeks of theatre camp, there are plenty of opportunities for young movie makers and actors to grow, learn and just have some fun.
Film camp dates are July 8 to 12, July 15 to 19, July 22 to 26, and July 29 to Aug. 1. Campers will create their own original films while learning skills, terminology and the importance of collaboration in video production. A unit on the business of film introduces concepts of budgets and staffing. Each week ends with a mini-film festival with screenings of the campers’ work.
Two weeks of theatre camp, Aug. 12 to 16, and Aug. 19 to 23, include stage games and improvisations designed to improve campers’ acting and communication skills. Participants audition for roles and rehearse a scripted play to be performed for family and friends on Friday afternoon.
Camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, in the fellowship hall of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach.
The weekly fee for film camp is $425. The weekly fee for theatre camp is $395. To register, go to rehobothchildrensthatre.org. For more information, call 302-227-6766 or email rehobothchildrenstheatre@gmail.com.
