A fire caused about $250,000 in damage to a Long Neck home Dec. 1.
The fire was reported about 11 a.m. in the Sherwood Forest North neighborhood. Upon arrival, firefighters from Indian River, Millsboro, Lewes and Milton found the home and a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The Delaware State Fire Marshal determined the fire was accidental and caused by an unknown malfunction of a parked riding lawnmower. The dwelling was occupied by they were able to escape without injury. Damage to the home is estimated at $250,000, the fire marshal said.
