An 18-month-old who was in critical condition following a Sept. 14 fire in Georgetown died the following day.
The child had been flown to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington the day of the fire, but the child died Sept. 15, said Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.
A woman, 87, died in the emergency department of Beebe Healthcare on the day of the fire, officials said. Damages to the home were estimated at $300,000.
Chionchio said officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
An online fundraising campaign has been started on GiveSendGo.com in support of the Thaylor and Laguerre families. Georgetown Police Department Detective Michael Goins said the page is a way for the community to support the family in a coordinated fashion.
“With everyone being brought together, they can make sure they are all providing the best assistance for the family,” he said.
The goal is to raise $20,000. So far, about $5,600 has been raised.
Editor’s note: The story has been updated since there is no further details on the child
